Medication Adherence and mHealth: The George Washington University & Wireless Reach Pill Phone Study Results

Registration Starts at 10:30

The George Washington University & Wireless Reach Pill Phone Study

For urban, underserved hypertensive patients, poor medication adherence rates and low patient engagement can result in uncontrolled blood pressure and potentially serious complications. With a grant from Qualcomm’s Wireless Reach, and the contributions of Cricket, One Economy and VOCEL, the George Washington University Medical Center conducted a research study to determine whether the Pill Phone mobile application improves medication adherence in this population with hypertension.

Please join us for a compelling discussion of medical adherence, mHealth policy, and the study results, with featured speakers:

• Dr. Wendy Nilsen, Health Scientist Administrator, National Institutes of Health, Office of Behavioral and Social Science Research, will discuss the challenges of medical adherence

• Kerry McDermott, Director of Healthcare, Federal Communications Commission, who will provide a perspective on mHealth policy

This lecture is one of the six-part mHealth seminar series that provides a forum for discussing mHealth evaluations, highlighting mHealth research and practice, and developing partnerships with the broader implementation community.
